When fate brought Mariusz Kołodziej and Zyggie Rozalski, who is well-known in boxing, together, no one could have imagined that this friendship would, years later, give rise to a brand that is now known all over the world.
The passion for boxing and the challenge posed to the then well-known American owner of Hudson Bread became the driving force behind the venture.
Initially, Mariusz Kolodziej invested in fighters from the US and South America.
When he met Tomasz Adamek and Andrzej Golota, he decided to cooperate with them. The idea was to attract Polish fighters to the United States.
Global Boxing was formally established in 2010 in North Bergen, New Jersey, where a Gym for boxing and MMA fighters was created next to an existing bakery.
Maurine Shea, who prepared actress Hilary Swank for her role in ‘Million Dollar Baby’, was hired to run it. The actress won an Oscar for her role and Global Boxing won media recognition, not least among the sporting community.
Mariusz Kolodziej’s priority has always been to promote the Poles, however, ‘Global Boxing is open to any cooperation as long as it is beneficial to the fighters and helps their development’. The trainers employed at the Gym guaranteed a consistently high level of training. Michael Moorer, Lou Duva, Teddy Atlas, Carlos i Juan De Leone, Terrific Gist, Gregory Gilmore, Lenny DeJesus, Aurelio Toyo, Ali Bashir, Monte Baret, are all respected names in the industry. World famous fighters have trained at Global Boxing: Andre Ward, Deontay Wilder, David Tua, Zhilei Zhang, Daniel Geale, Bobby Gunn, Marco Huck, Steve Cunningham, … Among the Polish fighters working with Global Boxing were: Adam Kownacki, Mariusz Wach, Piotr Wilczewski, czy Przemysław Majewski.
Global Boxing Promotions supports both professional and Olympic boxing.
To help young boxers, the Foundation was established. Its main aim was to help Polish fighters and promote Polish boxing internationally.
The first beneficiary of the Foundation was Kamil Łaszczyk, but among the beneficiaries we can also mention Patryk Szymański or Justyna Walaś.
Something that started as a hobby has turned into an international company. Mariusz Kolodziej has proven that he not only knows the business, but can be a promoter and patron of fighters willing to train under his tutelage. Global Boxing is about passion, sport and innovation – the same guidelines have accompanied the company from the beginning.
