It takes guts to enter the Octagon, and it takes even more when you’ve had limited experience. That’s precisely what Jersey City’s Omar Elabad did when he stepped into the cage for the first time in August of 2010, just five months after beginning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training. Elabad lost a decision that night, but discovered the innate fighting ability that encouraged him to continue fighting in mixed martial arts.
In high school Omar was a standout soccer player and loved to weight lift. Omar now trains at Global Boxing Gym with Julio Rodriguez and Ralph Mendez.
